Warrior Head

Dear Junior High and High School Students and Families:

This letter is to make clear our school’s stance on sexting—the creation, possession, or distribution of sexually explicit images, including but not limited to nude photos of oneself or others, or messages through any electronic device. Sexting is strictly prohibited, and violations will be dealt with seriously and without exception.

Understanding Sexting and Its Serious Consequences

Sexting is not only harmful but also potentially illegal. If you are caught engaging in this behavior, serious legal and school consequences will follow:

  1. Legal Ramifications: Sharing or possessing explicit images of a minor—even self-created—violates child pornography laws. You could face criminal charges, including:

    • Law enforcement involvement and criminal investigations.

    • Fines, probation, or court-ordered interventions.

    • A criminal record that could impact your future, including college admissions, scholarships, and employment opportunities.

School Consequences:

In addition to possible legal action, our school will take immediate disciplinary action:

  1. Suspension or Expulsion: Sexting will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

  2. Loss of Privileges: You may be permanently barred from extracurricular activities, sports teams, or school events.

  3. Mandatory Counseling: You may be required to attend counseling or intervention programs.

Think Before You Act:

Once explicit content is sent, you lose control over where it goes or who sees it. Even if you trust the person you’re sending it to, that trust can be broken, leading to lifelong consequences. “It was just a joke” or “I didn’t think it would spread” are not acceptable excuses.

Our Final Message:

If you feel pressured to send or share explicit images, or if you know of someone who is involved, speak up. Our counselors, teachers, and administrators are here to help and protect you. Reporting inappropriate behavior is not tattling—it’s protecting yourself and others. Sexting is a dangerous choice with permanent, life-altering consequences. We will enforce our policy fully and hold all students accountable. Choose wisely and help us foster a respectful, safe school environment for everyone.
